PMSA being aware of menace of narcotic smuggling, deploys its ships and Fast Response Boats all along the coast of Pakistan to deal with this issue. Corvettes and Defender aircraft are extensively used for patrolling and surveillance in the EEZ. Since apprehension of boats involved in narcotics smuggling are mainly intelligence based missions, therefore, PMSA also maintains close liaison with land based agencies like Customs Intelligence, Customs preventive, Anti Narcotics Force etc.
To highlight the efforts of PMSA in eradication of drugs trafficking, it is significant to mention that since 1990, PMSA has seized almost 85 tons of narcotics which has a street value of Rs. 15 Billion. In US dollar, it costs around $150 Million. In addition, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency while operating in the Maritime Zones of Pakistan, independently or in collaboration with other agencies, has seized smuggled goods worth millions
